Comfortable and holding up after several years!

"I bought these boots 2. 5 years ago, and I love them and wear them all of the time. They are getting 4 stars not 5 only because when I took them to get repaired (normal wear and tear) at my cobbler, the finish of the leather is the type that holds onto scratches and smudges. The cobbler was able to easily repair everything, and cleaned them up admirably, but they will never look really nice again. And the leather loop on the back of the shoe breaks if I try to use it to pull the shoe on. But they are exceptionally comfortable, fit perfectly (I usually struggle with the width of the toe box in shoes, but not with these shoes), look really good, and are generally the quality I would expect at this price. $200 shoes are not going to be made from the most durable leather, so I don't expect them to last forever, but they are lasting admirably as my every day shoes for the past 2. 5 years."

Q&A

I normally wear a 7 1/2 with socks. Should i proceed to order my normal size or should i size down or up? also i would like lace to be unattached to the boot for flexibility to tighten all the way up if needed.
Hi, I wear a 9 1/2 and ordered that size -- they are very comfortable. I haven't worn them on an all-day shopping trip yet, but I suspect they are going to be very comfortable for that and other long days as well. Regarding the laces, they can definitely be tightened (or loosened) as desired. They are not attached in any way to the boot. The quality of these boots is very, very high. They look and feel high-end. And, there are lots of details like a tab on the back to help pull them up over thick socks and tough material attached to the sole to provide traction. (It's not visible from the sides.)
Do the laces go all the way up to the top? And are they useable laces that can be tied?
